When visiting Turin, an absolute must place to visit is the Duomo; that is, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. (Note: Italians refer to the major cathedral in a city as "il Duomo.")
Following his beatification in May 1990, Pier Giorgio Frassati's mortal remains were transferred to an altar on the left side of the cathedral. An oval portrait of Pier Giorgio hangs above the coffin. The coffin itself, however, is not visible because of a floral painting positioned in front of it. (This painting was actually done by Pier Giorgio's mother, Adelaide Ametis Frassati.) In summer months, visitors will often find vases of roses and hydrangea near the tomb. Most likely, these have been taken from the flower gardens in Pollone and placed there by the family.
Just a little farther down from the tomb of Blessed Frassati and to the left of the main altar, you will find the Chapel of the Holy Shroud of Turin.
