Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Frassati welcomed their son Pier Giorgio Michelangelo Frassati on Holy Saturday, April 6, 1901. It was more appropriately the vigil of Easter Sunday, as he arrived in the evening around 7:00 p.m. According to biographies by his sister Luciana,
the bells at the parish church in Turin, "La Crocetta," were ringing joyously for the celebration of the Vigil Mass.
There could have been no way for anyone to know that his birthday would be celebrated around the world for centuries to come.
After his beatification in 1990, the idea began to give Pier Giorgio a gift on his birthday - a special spiritual bouquet. Praying the novena for the nine days leading up to his birthday is now a wonderful tradition. Prayers begin on March 28th.
