Pier Giorgio's beloved mother, Adelaide Ametis Frassati, passed away on June 18, 1949. She was 72 years old (born February 17, 1877.)

His father, Alfredo, lived to be 92 years old, departing this life on May 21, 1961 (born September 28, 1868.) 

Neither was alive when their son's cause for canonization was officially reopened by Pope Saint Paul VI in 1978.
