Dear friends, dear USA Friends of Pier Giorgio,
I am writing to share good news with you about the start of a new national organization in USA, which will work closely with our Associazione Pier Giorgio Frassati here in Rome, and will make it easier for you to obtain information, materials, prayer cards and other religious items that, thank God, so many of you continue to request. It will be called “FrassatiUSA," located in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be headed by Christine Wohar. I am sure that all of you – particularly those that since several years suggested to me that something alike was necessary in USA – will be glad that finally it exists!!
In addition to being a clearinghouse for materials, FrassatiUSA will organize domestic events and pilgrimages in the path of Pier Giorgio. One very important aspect of FrassatiUSA will be the preparation of a traveling exhibit and presentation materials to help bring the message of Pier Giorgio to high schools, college campuses, youth groups, etc. Also, many of you will be happy to know that FrassatiUSA will undertake the translation and publishing of more books on Pier Giorgio in English. For the sake of advancing the apostolate of Pier Giorgio, I know this new organization is not only a good thing but a necessary thing.
Christine has been with me here in Italy for the past three months learning more about Pier Giorgio and meeting his whole family, - also my 104-year-old mother, Pier Giorgio’s only sister. Many of you have already been receiving her emails and photos regarding Pier Giorgio but she may be new to some of you. She earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and has worked for several years at a Dominican college and started two Frassati societies in Nashville within the last 10 years.
After beginning our collaboration here in Italy, I am very confident that FrassatiUSA will be in capable hands. I hope you will support with your prayers Christine and this new organization, as she carries the burden but also the joy of the company of Pier Giorgio, in helping him in his apostolate among his American friends, persuading them “to live and not just get along” and dragging them ever upwards “verso l’alto.” I entrust this initiative to him, my blessed uncle.
But please also do not forget me in your prayers: I hope you will still stay in contact with me, and of course whenever I can do something for you I am at your disposal. I love hearing from you and the good things Pier Giorgio is doing in your lives!
Hoping to see you sometime in Rome, with warm and sunny Italian greetings,
Wanda Gawronska
